Chances are that you have quite a bit of personal information about yourself on Match. It would be a shame if a troublemaker got into your account and stole it, or used it to impersonate you and lure people on fake dates.

While the chances of these things happening are thankfully rather small, you can help to make them even smaller by securing your Match account with a stronger password. If you need some tips on how to come up with a secure password, check out our How to Make a Strong Password tutorial.

Changing your Match.com password

1. Go to www.match.com in your web browser and log in (if you haven’t already).

2. Click the gear icon in the menu across the top, and click Settings.

3. Click Sign Up Information in either of the locations highlighted here.

4. Since Match considers what you are about to view sensitive information, you will need to re-type your password. Click in the box labelled “Password”, type it in, and then click Go.

5. On the next screen, you’ll see the essential account information that you used to sign up for Match (blurred out here for privacy reasons, obviously). Click Change Sign Up Info.

6. Click inside the box marked “Password” and press the “Backspace” key on your keyboard to delete the one that’s there. Then, type in the new password that you want to use. Finally, click Continue.

That’s all there is to changing your password!
